Direct Answer

OEM Sealing Profiles Built Around Your Application

Onaseal supports B2B buyers, distributors and equipment manufacturers with drawing-based or sample-based profile development. The correct solution is selected from the mating geometry, operating gap, installation method, material exposure and order requirements—not from appearance alone.

For a dependable quotation, provide the cross-section, critical dimensions, material preference, color, required length, annual quantity and application photos. Trial samples should be fitted to the real assembly before mass production.

Profile Selection

D, P, E and I Foam Seal Profiles: How to Compare Them

Profile familyGeometry to evaluateTypical selection question
D profileRounded hollow bulb on an adhesive footDoes the bulb fill the measured gap without excessive closing force?
P profileBulb offset from a mounting leg or tailIs an offset sealing contact needed beside the mounting surface?
E profileMultiple narrow ribs or cavitiesDoes the application need a lower-profile, multi-contact section?
I profile / rectangular tapeFlat solid or foam strip without a hollow bulbIs simple cushioning, spacing or surface contact more important than bulb travel?
Custom sectionProject-specific bulb, lip, foot or multi-cavity geometryCan standard profiles meet the gap range and assembly envelope?

Profile letters are visual families, not dimensional standards. Two D profiles can have different height, width, wall, density and closing force. Select from the measured minimum and maximum gap, available mounting width and an installed sample test.

Manufacturing Capability

What Onaseal Can Customize

Cross-Section Development

Review from CAD drawings, dimensions, samples and mating-part geometry.

Material & Compound

Material selection based on compression, weather, abrasion and service environment.

Secondary Processing

Adhesive, coating, flocking, cutting, joining and application-specific finishing.

OEM Packaging

Coils, reels, cut lengths, sets, labels and export packaging for B2B supply.

Adhesive Validation

What Determines Whether a Self-Adhesive Foam Seal Bonds Reliably?

InputWhat to record or testWhy it matters
SubstratePainted metal, bare metal, glass, plastic, wood or coated surfaceSurface energy, coating and contamination affect adhesive contact
Surface conditionCleanliness, dryness, texture, dust, oil and release agentsThe adhesive must contact a stable surface rather than contamination
InstallationApplication temperature, pressure, corner radius and installer methodPressure-sensitive adhesive needs adequate wet-out across the bonding area
ServiceTemperature, moisture, UV, cleaning chemicals and peel/shear loadingInstallation conditions and long-term exposure are different requirements
ValidationActual substrate samples, dwell time and peel/retention acceptanceA generic “strong adhesive” description does not prove application suitability

Adhesive principle: 3M's public surface-preparation guidance states that pressure-sensitive adhesive performance depends on a stable, clean and dry bonding surface; its application guidance also emphasizes consistent pressure. These are general PSA design principles only. They do not state that every Onaseal foam seal uses 3M tape; the selected adhesive's own data sheet and tests on the buyer's substrate control the project.

Four-Step OEM Cooperation

  1. Send a drawing, sample, photos and application requirements.
  2. Confirm section, material, dimensions, tolerances and commercial quantity.
  3. Approve tooling and trial samples after fit and performance checks.
  4. Proceed with batch production, inspection, packaging and export delivery.

FAQ

Buyer Questions

Measure the closed gap at several points and select a profile that seals with controlled compression.

Adhesive and liner options can be reviewed based on substrate, temperature and installation conditions.

Adhesive and a release liner are applied to one face of the foam profile, while the opposite face remains available to compress against the mating surface.

No. EPDM and NBR are different elastomers with different resistance profiles. State the required material and service conditions in your RFQ rather than treating them as direct substitutes.

Available sizes or trial samples can be discussed after dimensions and application are confirmed.
